Finding multiple lost photos with the same file name, losing "find nearby files!!"

Thanks, Bobsomrak. Now I can quit butting my head against that stone. The issue of multiple lost files with the same name - arises I expect because the camera names them and a new Nikon might start with the same naming scheme already used. I've owned a lot of Nikons (starting with the Nikon F...

Finding multiple lost photos with the same file name, losing "find nearby files!!"

Thanks - worth a try. I selected a batch and hit "enable filters." Nothing. Then I re-read and hit Rename. Didn't get exactly what I wanted but it worked. I found one of that batch and LR accepted the one find, but LR still did not recognize, or find, the nearby files. So nothing gained yet on...

Finding multiple lost photos with the same file name, losing "find nearby files!!"

So what is the option? Is there one? If I can rename in LR (have to first find it in LR) won't that be the same, one a a time? If I could batch rename . . ..

Finding multiple lost photos with the same file name, losing "find nearby files!!"

When I search a file name and get multiple different photos, like four, LR won' let me "find" that because it sees there's already a pic with that file name in the catalog. I'm changing the name so I can "find" it. LR then allows the find, but it may be one of hundreds nearby that are "lost,"...

Found photos still showing (being counted as) lost

I finally figured out what you mean by "reissue the command." Had to go up to the top bar and click on Library and then on find missing photos. But I was already IN Library! Re-clicking on "find . . ." would have worked anywhere else in the confuser world. So much in LR is NOT intuitive...

Found photos still showing (being counted as) lost

"Issue the command?" It's clear I've been out of Catalog and back. I don't know how else to "issue the command" than to leave the area and return and click on it. Nothing changes. Probably we should stay on that one issue, but issues are multiplying. Today I am seeing a count of 3,066, no...

Found photos still showing (being counted as) lost

Thanks - I noticed that as I worked. I have been all over LR, finding lost folders, viewing pics, closed Catalog and reopened it, even - just now -closed LR and reopened it. Here's what I've got, with the option I get by right-clicking on the missing photographs line:

Found photos still showing (being counted as) lost

Revisited LR after being away from it for a while. Found just over 3,000 photos showing up as missing (!!) and spent two afternoons finding 98% of them. They no longer show the upper right "lost" exclamation mark in a dotted box and the thumbnails are there. Also found a bunch of lost (greyed...

    Finding photos on PC

All the pics in icloud photos are from 9 years ago. No clue how I got them there. (Some are from a DJI Inspire drone and show up here at 100 something kb1).

    Finding photos on PC

Thanks, Jim. I did that, saw no change in LR, restarted LR, and I get only the below. As I could see the pics in Explorer (clicking on the file name) and in ACDSee, I'm pretty sure I had already extracted. Also I already had an "icloud Photos" folder, as per the previous screenshot. Of...

    Finding photos on PC

I down loaded some iphone photos from icloud. Thought I found them in LR on my PC in downloads, iphone photo cache. The showed up as empty folders. Now I've found the actual pics in file explorer, and in ACDSee. But I can't find them, or see the same file structure, in LR. Here they are in...

    Unable to remedy partial export

Export to desktop successful. Expected. Of course LR could not think the files were already there. I have noticed that the files from the troublesome lot are not showing up in the source for the import as imported, they are not greyed out as already imported. They were imported. they just...

    Unable to remedy partial export

I exported 43 pics to a LR subfolder of the original import folder. Only 23 are in the LR folder. Trying to complete the export, I selected the missing pics and when I try to export them LR says they are already there. Detail: The original export got the message "Destination folder not...

    So I have 3 of everything . . .

I'm sure this is basic, in fact I know it's basic, but I cannot seem to wrap my mind around it. I import from a card to LR. I develop. I export to ACDsee where I am comfortable navigating, viewing, where I can see my whole file structure as it is, not as what looks like it but isn't it in LR...

    ??on exporting to a subfolder

Thanks, Ron! "Do you use ACDSee for managing your images?" Yes. Unless I've been mucking about with LR, trying to use it, I can always find my way around there. It uses the conventional file tree like every other program (except LR, it seems!) I use LR to develolp because I am under the...
