When I move an image from LR to PS for editing and end up with a document made up of many layers enlarging the file to some 2gigs plus in size...PS will only allow the file to be saved in large document format.

Now when I save the file and move back to LR CLASSIC I’m unable to to view said file.. if I go to the folder via Mac finder I see that the file is there but I’m unable to get this file into the LR catalogue ...I have tried synchronizing the catalogue folder and I have tried using the import dialog but as of now I can't do it?

Now it could be my memory issues but I seem to remember being able to view large documents in LR6.. anyway ..... does anyone know if I should be able to view PHOTOSHOP LARGE DOCUMENT format within Lightroom Classic and what I may be doing wrong?
Thanks
George

AFAIK, the large document format (PSB) is not supported by Lightroom Classic

Thanks John... I was afraid that may be the case...That makes it a little more challenging for keeping the larger files close to their originals....

Could you save the file as a TIFF? TIFF''s have a size limit of 4GB, and they support everything that PSD's do.

Thanks Hal..... I really hate to admit how long I've been using both Lightroom and Photoshop and did not realize that I could save TIFF at a larger file size than a Photoshop document?... I had tunnel vision thinking only Photoshop..Thanks for waking me up...
appreciate the help.

It may not actually solve the problem, as I think that PSx's can do better layer compression than TIFF's, at least in some limited experiments (someone around here pointed me to that feature as I always used TIFF's). If you try it, let us know how it compares file size wise.

I did just try classic with a PSB and it won't see it at all.

I converted my 3.65gig Large Document File to TIFF and I was able to import into my LR catalogue ...mission accomplished thanks for the help! Like I said it was just tunnel vision... I was thinking that Photoshop would deal best with Photoshop files... PSD, PSB .. etc.. and didn't think of trying TIFF..
I was reading the article posted yesterday on Scott Kelby's Blog by a gentlemen who's specialty is composting and he mentioned a file with 1500 layers!... I'm wondering how he deals with a file size that large? He probably does to use LR though.
Thanks
George
