I want to edit from the iPad while on a flight tomorrow.

Since I'm on the new cloud-based Lightroom CC plan, it's my understanding that Lightroom for iOS allows me to edit the actual RAW files, rather than Smart Previews like the previous version did.

What if I don't have an Internet connection? Will it allow me to edit the Smart Previews, or just attempt to download and go nowhere?

Mobile Operating System: iOS 11

Yes it will allow you to edit the Smart Previews....provided you set that up in advance of going offline.

1. In the LRm preferences, Cloud Storage & Sync tab, turn ON the option to "Only Download Smart Previews".

2. On the main Albums grid, for each of the Albums you might want to edit on the flight, tap on the three dots to the right of the Album name, and from the resulting Settings menu tap on "Store Locally". That will download all the album's Smart Previews to your iPad, and not the Raw files, which will thus be available for editing while you're offline.
