I think that if I have several hard drives with the same name, but different photos inside each one, I could use just one catalog for all. It may happens that I would only have online the photos from the external disk I have connected. Does anyone work in this way? I have to buy two more hard drives because I am going to run out of space next month and this would be easier for me to keep working in the same catalog.

Does Lightroom has some issue to manage 8 TB of photos in just one catalog?

Many thanks,

Paco

No, don't give these disks the same name! That won't work with Lightroom, because Lightroom uses a so-called 'path' to the images. That means that Lightroom looks for an image like this: 'Disk Name/Folder Name/Subfolder Name/Image Name'. If you have more than one disk with the same name, Lightroom won't be able to tell the difference. MacOS X does know, but Lightroom doesn't.

Give each disk a different name and it will work well. Lightroom can certainly handle 8 TB of images in one catalog. And Lightroom can handle many disks in one catalog.

You are right Johan. I will give them a different name.
By the way you have an amazing wildlife portfolio. Congratulations!

Many thanks for the answer,
Paco
